john cofrancesco
a legacy built in community work
John Cofrancesco was a man who dedicated his life to serving others. He was a devoted father, husband, and an administrator in an elder care facility. He was also passionate about empowering the youth through sports. John’s legacy lives on through The John Cofrancesco scholarship award, which was established by the Bergenfield Dominoes Club (BDC) to recognize students who exhibit academic excellence and strong leadership skills both in sports and within their community.
As an assistant coach in the Bergenfield Little League and Major League 14U division, John and BDC founder Victor Matos instilled confidence, character, and life lessons in the children they coached. The impact of John’s commitment to youth sports was exceptional, and Victor continues to honor his legacy by inspiring youth on and off the field.
BDC is proud to have supported outstanding students like Jasmine Campos(2020), Ruth Malinay (2021), and Diego Santos (2022) through The John Cofrancesco scholarship award. These bright and ambitious young people are pursuing their dreams and making a positive impact in their communities. The scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to John’s memory and the qualities that made him an exceptional human being.
BDC’s motto – Godfirst, community, family, and brotherhood – reflects their commitment to honoring John’s memory. They trust that he is in a better place, and they pledge to continue supporting the community through the scholarship. John will always be considered family and an honorary member of the club. His impact on the lives of everyone around him will never be forgotten.
