Every Year BDC will honor greatness. This award is given to those individuals that have gone above and beyond their duties to be impactful and difference makers in our community. These individuals have understood the value of education and community work and have devoted themselves to help in their field. This is a recognition of greatness in service.

MARIANN CANINO

The 2024 Person of the Year, Mariann Canino, has been a beacon of hope and dedication in our community for over 40 years. Her unwavering commitment to volunteerism and mentorship has touched countless lives, particularly through her work with the Bergenfield Police Athletic League and Bergenfield High School. Mariann's passion for helping children and families has made her an invaluable asset to our community, embodying the spirit of service that the BDC Person of the Year Award represents.
JUAN YOUNG

Juan Young has been a beacon of hope and inspiration in our community through his tireless work with the Play-It-Forward program. His dedication to mentorship and community leadership has made a profound impact on countless lives. Cesar and Susy de la Rosa have been pillars of our community for over 15 years as Bergenfield residents. Their involvement with the BDC and contributions to various programs, including the basketball league, have made a lasting impact. Their dedication to community service and their daughters' active participation in our programs demonstrate their commitment to building a stronger, more connected community.
EDWARD VOLMER

Edward Volmer, known as "Mr. Bergenfield," has made significant contributions to our community through his role as BDC Director of Communications and his involvement in the recreation department and youth sports. His dedication to community service and his ability to bring people together have made him an invaluable member of our organization and a true difference maker in Bergenfield.
JOHN SMITH

John Smith played a foundational role in the Bergenfield Little League and has been dedicated to youth sports throughout his career.
